Lesson 1: Prevalence Of Suicide In Washington State & The U.S.
Gain key perspectives on suicidal ideation and attempts in this introductory lesson, starting with an overview of the many origins and risk factors associated with suicide. You'll also learn the epidemiology of suicide in Washington State and why sensitive responses, effective screenings, and appropriate referrals are key in addressing the suffering of individuals at risk of suicide.
Lesson 2: Screening & Assessment of Risk Factors Associated with Suicide
Verbal indicators, behavior signs, and emotional changes related to suicide risk are covered in this screening and assessment lesson. With the right screening tools and vigilant attention to the mental health of your clients and patients, you could be part of the proactive solution to suicide.
Lesson 3: Referrals: Best Practices for Connecting the Client/Patient
Evaluating suicidal intent can be a tricky process. In this lesson, you'll learn what questions to ask when someone overtly or covertly expresses suicidal intent, how to approach the topic of suicide, and vital factors in conducting suicide assessments.
Lesson 4: Management of Patient, Treatment Modalities, Continuity of Care & Suicide Prevention Strategies
Mitigating suicide risk requires a multi-pronged approach. You and your patients can find hope through public health measures, initiatives, individual treatment, and follow-up. In this lesson, you'll also learn about supporting suicide survivors, military families, and ethical dilemmas in suicide prevention and care.
Lesson 5: Course Evaluation
Reflect on your learning experience in the Suicide Prevention Workshop. This evaluation is your chance to share feedback about the practicality, effectiveness, and user-friendliness of your completed lessons.
Lesson 6: Exam
Assess your knowledge of key suicide prevention principles. Exams may be taken multiple times if needed to allow additional study and understanding of concepts. Passing the exam is required to obtain your certificate of completion.
